Frequently asked questions

Do You Paint Your Work?

While I used to offer this solution, I no longer do. It hurts my heart to paint over beautiful wood. If you want painted cabinets, I’m not your guy. In fact, I only take on projects that are designed to bring out the wood’s beauty. I’m happy to stain or tint the wood to meet color specifications.

Why is there a wait list?

It’s just me in the shop. This isn’t my day job and I do have an incredible family to care for. In addition to that, I usually have a few projects on the books the need to get finished first, but that won’t stop us from making progress on your piece. There’s a lot of planning to do, sketches to make, wood to select, and more. I think you’re going to enjoy the process. Great work takes time and is always worth the wait.

Do You Offer Shipping?

Unfortunately, I’m not able to ship my work. I’m honored to build your custom furniture regardless of where you live. Please note that you’re responsible for picking up the piece when it’s finished. Many of these items are simply too big or too heavy to ship affordably.

Why is it so expensive?

Unlike big box stores, your furniture piece is made out of solid wood, fitted together with time-tested joinery like dovetails, and is made 100% by me with no help from a factory. In addition, I’ve already started working on your project. That’s because I store and dry the wood that will go into your project. The moisture content in the material needs to be at equilibrium with its final destination, which can take months or even years on my part to get the wood ready for your piece.
